advance up 175 tiles to win

arrow keys: move/attack
number keys: read scroll
hold right mouse: show tooltip
left mouse: move/attack/read
r: surrender and restart game

detailed game info:

scrolls:
within each run you are (usually) restricted to certain subset of enemy/scroll types
reading a scroll takes a turn
scrolls with "\" will randomly choose which effect to activate
scrolls with "&" will activate first the left effect then the right effect
made out of fireproof paper
move onto a scroll/upgrade to pick it up
picking up a scroll with a full inventory replaces your first scroll
1 scroll for every 20 distance

enemies:
uppercase/lowercase indicates hp
color indicates status effect
attacks deal 1 damage
try to move directly to you and won't move farther away (so if blocked by other enemies or certain terrain will instead wait)
on death give you 1 xp
on death drop a scroll

leveling:
your level = max hp (up to 9)
your level = xp needed to level up
leveling up refills your hp and clears your status effect

upgrades:
at distances 35/70/105/140 on depths 0/1/2/3 respectively you can choose a permanent upgrade
picking up an upgrade with 4 already replaces your first upgrade

spawns:
enemies try to spawn at the top in your column or 1 space to the left/right
spawns once every 11 turns
number of enemies per spawn is 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4... (max of 9)

terrain:
falling into a chasm causes you to fall to the next depth and take 2 damage
enemies falling into a chasm die

scrolling:
moving up past a certain point causes the dungeon map to scroll up
scrolling (or descending to the next depth) causes off screen enemies to disappear
you cannot scroll down

hard mode:
upgrades at distances 50/100/150/200
advance up 250 tiles to win
limited to 2 upgrades
toggle hard/normal difficulty at the game over screen

replays:
space: (un)pause
right: advance 1 turn
up/down: faster/slower playback

seeded games:
after dying or watching a replay you can choose to play that same seed
similar enemies/scrolls/upgrades/map
seeded games don't count towards your score
